Where is the Heritage Corridor?
The Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) encompasses the communities and counties along the historic 97-mile Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor. The Heritage Corridor spans from the Chicago Portage Area just southwest of Chicago to LaSalle-Peru including the counties of Will, Grundy, LaSalle and Putnam. The region conveniently located along I-55 from Chicago to Joliet along I-80 west to LaSalle-Peru.

Holiday Events Throughout the Area

Looking for something to do this Holiday season? Fear no more... Throughout Morris, Wilmington, Lockport, Lemont, and Romeoville their will be plenty of opportunity to find some holiday fun. Below you will find information about holiday events going on in these towns.

Morris - November 24

Don't miss Santa's arrival in Downtown Morris! The Annual Lighted Holiday Parade will start at 5:30pm and begins on Washington Street, east of Liberty, and continues north on Liberty Street to Chapin Park. At approximately 6:00pm the beautiful Chapin Park will light up, followed by caroling with the Coal City High School Madrigals, visits with Santa, and free horse drawn sleigh rides, and more!

Wilmington - November 25

The Wilmington Downtown Merchants Association plans on bringing the beloved childhood board game, Candy Land, to life on Water Street. Candy Land Live will have families “play” the game to receive candy, win prizes, and provide an overall positive, exciting, and uplifting atmosphere prior to the holiday parade.


Candy Land Live will run from 2pm - 4:30pm, with the holiday parade starting at 5pm.The goal of this event is to provide Wilmington families and surrounding community members with an activity designed to have them engage with local businesses and organizations.

Lockport - November 25

Starting at 1pm, everyone is welcome to come out to Lockport and celebrate the holidays at the Annual Christmas in the Square event. Come visit Santa and his workshop. Santa will have a special gift for each child. Children's crafts, special treats and entertainment will be available too! Be sure to stop by the Gladys Fox Museum to see the Festival of Trees. Take part in the Chamber of Commerce's Passport to Christmas in the Square. The tree lighting ceremony will be at 4:30pm on the front lawn of Central Square. This event is sponsored by the Lockport Township Park District, City of Lockport and Lockport Township Government as well as a variety of local businesses


Romeoville - December 1

Come out to Winter Wonderland in Romeoville, December 1, and watch as the Romeoville Fire Department and Romeoville Firefighters Local 4237 bring Santa around on decorated, flashy vehicles! The kids will love all of the fun activities and the event goes to a good cause.


Kicking off the festivities is the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:00pm — lighting up the night outside of the Edward Hospital Athletic & Events Center. Romeoville Firefighters Local 4237 will provide and serve hot chocolate and cookies immediately following the parade. Winter Wonderland is one of Romeoville’s largest children’s events helping the community with food pantry donations. All it takes is a donation of one non-perishable food item and you’re free to join all the fun holiday activities such as children’s entertainment, inflatables, crafts, a picture with Santa (for the first 400 children), and more!

LEMONT - December 2

Kick off the holiday season with an event the whole family will enjoy! Don't miss Hometown Holiday on Saturday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m in Downtown Lemont. Shopping, children's activities, visits and photo opportunities with Santa, and don't miss Frosty, Rudolph, and even the Grinch who will be strolling around downtown. Tree Lighting will take place at 5:00 p.m.
