City of Countryside

Ideally located minutes from downtown Chicago and just off I-55 and I-294, Countryside grew into a bedroom community for workers commuting to/from Chicago. Countryside offers affordable housing and a safe place to raise families. Traditions of this close-knit community continue as many report to be second and third generation residents. The community gathers on Thursday evenings at Countryside Park for the concert series, June through mid-August. The concerts are so well known they draw people from all areas. Countryside remains closely tied to its past, thanks to its position along Historic Route 66. Demolished in November 2007, Countryside was well known for being home to the Wishing Well Motel, a classic stop along Route 66 for travelers and celebrities including Guy Lombardo, the Glen Miller Orchestra, and the band Chicago. Today, the brand new Illinois Harley Davidson and Autobarn BMW Motorcycle dealerships are located on Route 66 Countryside. Motorcycles are available for rent through Eagle Rider at both locations. You can rent for a day or for the entire Route 66 cross country adventure.
