Indian Head Park got its start as a development of homes built on the former Indian Head Golf Course, aptly named for the Potawatomi Tribe arrowheads unearthed during construction of the course. Located just north of I 294 and I 55, Indian Head Park strives to maintain a balance of natural beauty, in honor of its Native American history, as well as a caring and involved community. The Heritage Center is open on weekends and houses a library learning center and can also be booked for special events. A stop at Wolf’s Head Inn is a must for those nostalgic for the wood-paneled bar that used to occupy the basement. Besides serving up good food in the classic Route 66 tradition, you’ll enjoy the scattered knick-knacks and comfortable atmosphere.
