Fresh off the press, the 2007-2008 Heritage Corridor Visitors Guide will assist in planning your weekend leisure activities. The Illinois and Michigan National Heritage Corridor covers a 97-mile stretch from Southern Cook County in the northeast to Putnam County in the southwest along the I & M Canal. The Corridor includes the communities of Hennepin, Peru, Utica, Mendota, Ottawa, Streator, Channahon, Morris, Joliet, Bolingbrook, Lemont and Countryside. The Visitor guide lists restaurants, lodging, sport facilities, state parks and more!
Do you know what county is Illinois' smallest? What canal town is known as the "Town of Two Rivers?" What town's name comes from a Native American word for "meeting of the waters?" Check out the history section of the guide where you will find fascinating facts about the canal towns of the Corridor.
Divided into seven geographical regions, the Heritage Corridor Visitor Guide is a helpful tool when planning your weekend getaway
right in your own backyard.
Pick up your guide today at any one of the Heritage Corridor CVB's four visitor centers in Utica, Joliet, Bolingbrook and Bedford Park. They may also be found at other area visitor centers and attractions.
