Homer Trails

South of Bell Road about ¼ mile south of 159th Street,
Homer Glen
A 3.2 mile trail winds through wooded areas and prairie is Will County’s only equestrian preserve. The trail can also be used for hiking and cross-country skiing.

Messenger Woods Nature Preserve

One of Will County’s oldest and most unusual forest preserves allows visitors to enjoy one of the few remaining unaltered forests in northeastern Illinois. Hike or ski along two miles of looped trails or take in the beauty abundant wildflowers.

The largest publicly-owned open space in Northeastern Illinois. Stop and visit the new Welcome Center to learn about the large-scale prairie restoration project. Three miles of primitive hiking trails are available just north of the welcome center. A schedule of public tours is available on the website.

Welcome Center hours: 8 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. M-F and most Saturdays in the summer.
