Owl Prowl Weekend is Back at Starved Rock Park

Get ready for Owl Prowl Weekend starting this Friday, March 13th – 15th, 2020. With such an eventful weekend that lies ahead, here is what you can expect:

On Friday and Saturday, ornithologist Steve Bailey will be leading Owl Programs and Owl Walks. These two programs will begin at 6pm with an owl walk to follow right after, ending the day back at the lodge around 8pm.

During the Owl Programs, Steve will have some owl specimens, feathers and pellets to show. He will also try and call in a Screech, Barred and Great Horned Owls and if you’re lucky enough you will be able to see some nest of uncommon wintering owls.

The price for this event will be $10 per person. Plan on bringing a flashlight and dress for the weather.

On Sunday, you must be in the owl prowl overnight package in order to attend the night walk.

For Saturday and Sunday, the “Hoo” Haven Wildlife and Education Center (Durand, IL) will lead a presentation featuring their own owls. The program times are at 10am, 12pm and 2pm in the LaSalle Room of the lodge.

Adults are $5, children 10 & under are $3.
