Downtown events are looking a little different this year, and Home For The Holidays is no exception. Although you will see some changes in this year's festivities, we are thrilled to be able to safely bring many holiday activities to downtown Morris. Monday, November 23 – Friday November 27 - Lantern Making Pick up a lantern making kit at participating downtown stores! Kids can decorate their lanterns at home and bring them downtown while enjoying holiday events. (While supplies last) Friday, November 27 Friday 27 – Thursday, December 3 - Community Tree Decorating Contest Create a beautiful ornament to help decorate the large evergreen on the Grundy County Courthouse lawn. Be sure to include your name and phone number on the ornament. On December 3, we will select the most creative ornament and award a gift basket of sweets from The Sweet Tooth! Window Walk – Downtown Morris Stroll downtown Morris' beautiful holiday window displays while participating in the Window Walk Contest. Search store windows for the items listed on a clue sheet and submit completed sheets at a participating store by November 29. Six winners will be drawn for $100 gift certificates! Be one of the first downtown, and pick up your Window Walk cloth bag FULL of offers from your favorite stores & restaurants! Most businesses will be open late. November 27 – December 11 Virtual Christmas House Walk Although an in-person house walk isn't feasible this year, let's take this opportunity to share our homes virtually! Share a photo of your tree, your favorite room or your entire house! Have you purchased décor from one of our great downtown businesses, or a local maker? Be sure to tag them! Visit and find the virtual house walk under Events. Festival of Trees - Continues Friday 27 – Thursday, December 31 – Make Some Music Photo Opportunity and Contest – Grundy County Courthouse Lawn Join the large image of carolers for great photo opportunity. Feel free to add a tune, or bring your own instrument. Post your photo on social media with #homefortheholidaymorrisil for a chance to win a $25.00 Grundy County Chamber gift certificate. 3:00pm – 7:00pm – Horse Drawn Carriage Rides – In front of the Grundy County Courthouse. To allow for social distancing, registration will be required. Register at beginning on November 1st. 5:30pm – 6:30pm Drive-Through Holiday Parade – Franklin Street from North St. to Washington St. Jump in your car, put on some holiday music, and see the stationary parade from the comfort of your car. Enjoy floats, decorated vehicles, your favorite characters, Santa and more! Enter the parade route from the west at North Street only. Participants must also exit the parade route to the west. Attendees must remain in their vehicles at all times. Saturday, November 28: Window Walk – Continues Community Tree Decorating Contest – Continues Festival of Trees - continues Make Some Music Photo Opportunity and Contest - Continues 10:00 am – Noon - Santa and His Reindeer – Grundy County Courthouse Lawn. Bring your camera for this great photo opportunity! To allow for social distancing, registration will be required. Register at beginning November 1st. 10:00 am – Noon - Hot Chocolate and Cookies – Grundy County Courthouse Lawn. Compliments of Streator Onized Credit Union. Sunday, November 29 Window Walk – Continues Community Tree Decorating Contest – Continues Make Some Music Photo Opportunity and Contest - Continues Kris Kringle Shopping Event Montage Wine Bar and Spirits – 307 Liberty – 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm Multiple vendors will be displaying their holiday wares. Charcuterie demonstration at 3:00pm. Holiday inspired drinks will be available while you shop.
