Learn how Joliet got the nickname City of Steel and Stone. An interpretive naturalist will share the stories of the men and machines that worked at this site, along with many other fascinating facts. See photos of the stone foundations found at the Joliet Iron Works Site, many of which are more than 100 years old, and compare those images to photos of when the site was in operation. We also have an archive of photographs to share that includes workers, the iron plant in operation and steel products being made. Many of these have never been seen before during previous on-site tours. Have a question? Ask it in the chat box and we will do our best to provide an answer. Fee: Free! Age: Ages 16 or older.
