A Double Dip at Rt66 Old School Brewing

Fun stat of the week:  252 pounds of blueberries.  That is the amount of fruit added to Fruited Wheat (pictured).  It weighs in at a 4.7% ABV and has a hint of sweetness.

It’s fellow release is Tenderfoot, a NEIPA with piney, floral, and grassy notes in the taste.

Make sure to head out to Wilmington to try both of these new beers!

Still Storming at Garage Band

The Plainfield brewery is still pumping out cans of one of its most in-demand beers.  Nor’Easter is a NEIPA with El Dorado, Ekuanot, Mosaic, and Citra hops.  Find out what the buzz is all about by grabbing a 4-pack of this amazing beer at Garage Band Brewing.

Two Favorites Back at Mad Hatchet

“You Asked For It” is a tasty Hefeweizen that weights in at 4.8% ABV. The beer brings a strong banana flavor and a hint of clove.  It’s been brewed with Hallertau hops.

“This is Your Grain on Hops” could be my favorite beer name of recent memory.  The beer is a West Coast IPA at 9.1% ABV.  Brewed with amarillo, centennial, columbus, and simcoe hops your get a strong hoppy flavor, a nice piney aroma, finished by a traditional bitter west coast punch.

New and Limited at Metal Monkey

There is only a sixtel of the newest Gose at Metal Monkey Brewery.  POG Destroyer is a traditional Gose with passion fruit, orange and guava.  It’s described as a deliciously sour fruit forward beer.  It’s so new and limited, I don’t have a photo of it.

A Tough Call at the Plate … Might As Well Play These Two from MyGrain

This beautiful photo reminds us that baseball season is upon us.  And whether you head in to the brewery or take these cans home … you will definitely come out a winner.

Iron and Steel is a big, bold beer named for the iron and steel workers that built Joliet into the city it is today. A generous grain bill with plenty of Munich malt and flaked wheat give this beer a pillowy mouthfeel, while the heaping portions of Azzaca, Mandarina Bavaria, and El Dorado hops throw a bomb of citrus on the back end.

Pilcher’s Pale Ale is a worldwide take on an American Style, their APA comes from all over the world, including Dutch, German, Belgian malts, rounded out by buckets of citrusy American hops to give it a strong bitterness and aroma.

Someone Say Seltzer?

Pollyanna came out with a new strawberry hard seltzer!  If you’re a fan of the seltzers, you will definitely want to check out this one – available at all three Pollyanna locations.

One New and One Favorite at Will County Brewing

And, yes, I couldn’t pass up the joke image that they posted earlier today on Facebook.

So, Pinochle Otters is back at Will County.   This is a Pina Colada inspired NEIPA with Coconut and Pineapple.  It was brewed in collaboration with Metal Monkey and the Joliet Brewers Guild.

Duper Tubin’ is the new one at WCBC.  It’s a light and crisp Kolsch that pays homage to tubing down the DuPage River!

Black is Beautiful x2 at Skeleton Key Brewery

SKB and Liquid Love Brewing collaborated on two different versions of beer for the Black Is Beautiful initiative, organized by Weathered Souls Brewing Company.  100% of the proceeds from the SKB version will be donated to My Block, My Hood, My City and The Center for Black Equity.

The SKB version features Sweet Plantains, Milk Sugar and Toasted Coconut.  The LLBC version features Cacao Nibs from Ghana, Vanilla, Milk Sugar, and Smuggler’s Coffee.

Cans will be sold in 16oz two packs, including one of each version.  Each two pack is $10, with a limit of four 2 packs per person.  There will be a limited amount of each version on draft in the patio and on the tap room.  The fun starts at 12pm on Saturday!

Coming Soon

The Band is Warming Up

Plainfield’s Garage Band Brewing is working on a new American Wheat that will be ready in a few weeks.  Keep an eye out for Wadnoggin!

The Beer is Cake

OK, so I don’t have one of those cool optical illusion videos, where the end result is a really fancily-decorated cake.  I wish I did, I’m hungry.  But I do have info on a collab with Will County Brewing, Mad Hatchet Brewing, and Orland Park Bakery.  It involved four 18″ x 26″ sheet cakes.

Alter Brewing is Channeling it’s Inner Thor

Alter is working on a tasty one.  They’re brewing a NEIPA with a Norwegian Kveik yeast.  They’re bringing the thunder, which will be here in early August.

They are also working on Orange Hwip, which should be here in a few weeks as well.

Flapjack Brewery’s Cherry Limeade Sour

Pictured here (in a cool filter) is one of Flapjack’s brewers adding cherry puree to their cherry limeade sour.  It sounds perfect for summer, and can’t wait to try this.

Fruhauf is on the Horizon

Pollyanna’s Great American Beer Fest medal-winning Oktoberfest lager is scheduled to hit my stomach (and cans) on July 31st.  5.4% ABV.
